Sakura-Con 2013: Day 2!

Posted on

This time, I took a picture before I left home and I look DERP. Oh well. It was early in the morning anyway. Woke up at 6am, left at 7pm. Today was the day that I’d dress up as Riki from Little Busters, and my friend Leah would dress up as Kud from Little Busters as well. I was hoping that I would see Masato later in the day and we’d have a small photo shoot.

When I arrived at the con, there weren’t many people (obviously, it was around 8am at the time). So I decided to take some pictures of the cherry blossoms because I thought they looked amazing and managed to take some great pictures. I then decided to head to the console gaming panel and played a few games while I was waiting for the hall to open. Did the same stuff today that I did yesterday while I tried to kill some time. Of course, I bothered Yuumei again and purchased some more prints. However some were for a certain friend that I will be shipping when I get the chance. I also bought a few more prints from AkiraKirai. Last time she was wearing a white dress but today, she was wearing a black one. I wonder what colour will be tomorrow?!

There were some fairly interesting cosplays today though. I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have hoped but that’s because I attended to a few things here and there and I don’t like taking pictures in crowds. Some of the pictures I take are also of people that I think looked great just in general. Some of them I don’t know but at least fort he most part, I know who most of them are supposed to be.

The first event I attended to was the autograph session with Ishidzuka Atsuko. I didn’t take a picture of the autograph but it’s very cute. You’ll probably see the picture of it tomorrow when I’ve put EVERYTHING up tomorrow or the day after. What was cool though was during the autograph session, I saw someone come out with a Berserker (from Fate/Zero) cosplay and I just HAD to take a picture. It was amazing. There was also this girl that was trying to cosplay as Miku. She seemed hesitant to pose at first but she did good… for a while. Shortly after a few pictures from a little bit of everyone, she decided she was too shy and kind of ran off. I later finally ran into my friends and took a picture with Leah as a Little Busters tribute kind of thing. Jack and Leah weren’t able to get Kawahara Reki’s autograph yesterday so they decided to go to this particular panel. Line was OUTRAGEOUSLY long! Almost twice as long as mine from yesterday!

After the autograph session, we come out and we see Masato! He had apparently waited cause he remembered seeing us at the autograph session with Aoi Eir and Haruna Luna and figured we’d be there. This guy man. I swear, he’s doing more than just cosplaying as Masato. So we went back inside the panel area and took a few shots with the help of Jack. They don’t look that great right now, however I intend on making some changes after the convention. I’ll take a few select pictures and do some adjustments. Anyway afterwards, I got to know the cosplayer a bit and found out that his name is Tomoyuki. He prefers to be called Tomo. Afterwards, we left to go do something else. It was very funny and odd feeling to leave him though. Tomo just stands there, waving goodbye without moving. Tomo really does remind me of Masato more than just with him cosplaying as the character.

Jack and Leah wanted to see the dub premiere of SAO and I agreed to join them. We were only thirty minutes early and in less than that, the ENTIRE PLACE GOT FILLED. The picture I took doesn’t even show half of how many people were going to attend to this premiere. They also announced to us (first apparently) who the voice actors would be. You can find all the information right here since I don’t really care to type it out: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/03/30/sword-art-online-english-dub-leads-announced. The dub was okay at the very least but not all that fitting. It’s also very hard to watch and grade it without having expectations on how the voices should be like. Overall, I think the voices were fine but there were a few parts that I honestly felt that the voice acting could have improved. There was also a raffle ticket that could allow you to win a special poster signed by the author of SAO. I was 817649, Leah 817650, and Jack 817651. How I actually remembered all the numbers, don’t ask because I won’t be able to give you an answer as well. Unfortunately, they never called a number above xxx400. It was very saddening.

Immediately after that panel, we went downstairs to go wait for the concert. We were an hour early and damn we still were somewhat far from the entrance. Not as bad as the other people that you may have noticed. I also decided to change my clothes a bit because I knew it would be hot in there. I’m glad I did because not only did I enjoy the concert, I was jumping, waving the glow sticks around, yelling, everything. It was my first real concert and it was with singers that I enjoyed very much. I wish I could have taken pictures or taken a video, however it was prohibited. Regardless, I still had a lot of fun.

Jack and Leah decided to go home rather than wait to get autographs from the singers. When I decided to go, I ended up bumping into Masato and he also found his friends which were only a bit ahead of me (two people ahead). I also got to know them and enjoyed conversing with them in random topics. Took one last picture and decided to go home.

Today was very exhausting but I will finally be able to get some good rest tonight. So with that said, I will finish the blog now and head to sleep. One more day before the con finally is over!

  3. Hi there, I remember seeing you at Sakura-Con last March with your Little Busters! Riki Cosplay. I was wondering if I could somehow get in contact with you because I’m planning a Little Busters! Cosplay Group at next years Sakura-Con 2014.

So far we have Kyousuke(me), Masato and Kurugaya in the group. Our goal is to (at least) get every member of Little Busters! together at the event. Would you be interested in joining us? It would grateful to hear back from you.
