Sakura-Con 2013: Day 3! Finale

Posted on

I’ve finally gotten around to writing this after a long weekend of enjoying myself to death. In any case, there really wasn’t much that happened today in comparison to the other two days.

I was able to wake up at a later time since there were no events that I needed to go to early in the morning. Though I guess I never really had anything to do early in the morning the other days, but I wanted to get there as early as I could to get good parking. I figured that since today was Sunday, there would be a decent amount of parking whenever I got there. So I started getting dressed, did the make up, and attempted to spike the hair. Unfortunately, none of us in the family were able to get it spiked up. I’ll definitely have to get a wig next time cause all that gel, hairspray and mousse was terrible!  Anyway, I managed to eat breakfast before I finally went out for the last time.

You know how I thought I would get parking easily earlier? I was wrong. It wasn’t so far off, but I still had to actually search for a parking spot this time. I didn’t care too much though seeing that I still had a lot of time left before I went to the Kawahara+Aoi+Haruna signing thing that would happen in the Aniplex booth. Since I had time, I went to give letters that I had written to Yuumei and Akirakirai. Afterwards, I floated around until I realized it was almost time for the signing event.

When I actually got there, I was contemplating the entire time whether or not I really wanted to do it. I had nothing in particular that I wanted them to sign considering that I have a signed wall scroll from Kawahara Reki, and signed boards + CDs from the two singers. At this point, it was a bit overkill. So I looked around myself and asked if someone had a friend that would like the ticket that I possessed. One guy saw it and asked how much I’d want to sell it for. While I kind of expected this to be asked, I was still shocked at this notion. I simply shook my head and told him that he could have it for free. The smile that sprung up in his mouth was priceless. Then he started doubting. Fortunately one of the guys that had attended to the Sword Art Online cosplay contest was there. I had to remind him that I was there and was one of the winners. The other guy immediately remembered and affirmed to his friend that the ticket was indeed a legitimate ticket. After I gave it to him, I decided to roam around as I always do.

For some reason, I felt uneasy so I went back and forth from the halls and outside. Thanks to that, I found out that they didn’t let him in because there was something wrong with his ticket. Apparently it needed some kind of sticker or sign on the back of it to be considered legitimate. I then took him to the CrunchyRoll booth to see if someone could help. I left him there after explaining the situation. I came back to check up on him after a few minutes and I was able to finally confirm that they got the situation sorted and he was very thankful. It made me feel a little good to know that I was able to make someone’s experience at Sakura-Con that much better.

I only hung around long enough to wait for the raffle ticket drawing at the booth where they sold Aoi Eir and Haruna Luna products. I didn’t win anything so I was only a little disappointed. There was one guy who had a hand full (read that again, a HAND FULL) of raffle tickets that won only once. With the amount that he had possessed, you would have thought that it could very be possible that he’d win more than once! While I was somewhat hoping that I’d be able to win one of the posters, I wasn’t too concerned about it. I had my glory and enjoyment from the guest reception. Nothing can replace that.

After the raffle ticket drawing, I hung around just long enough to take a few more pictures and then finally went back home. I actually had to stop by a grocery store near where I live to purchase some Scotch tape and bread. It felt very odd to be going into the grocery store that I’ve been going to for the past eight years wearing a costume. I was too lazy to actually go back home, dress into something else and go right back. After finally arriving home, I took a picture of my cosplay before I had to take it off. No one asked for a picture of me, to which was understandable. With so many Kiritos from the past two days, I would probably be done taking pictures of Kirito as well.

I had SO much fun at Sakura-Con that I’m very convinced that I will do this again next year. My sister wants to go now from just hearing about my experiences. She also wants to cosplay. For that reason, I’m willing to spend my money to help her with this. So maybe next year, you’ll be seeing my sister and I going to the con!

Thanks for reading everyone. I hope you enjoyed reading my silly little posts! Perhaps I’ll actually post more in this blog about other things rather than waiting for big events to happen! Ahaha~
